The Official Rules

These rules have been written in order to ensure the smooth running of Neofreaks. All members should abide by these rules at all times. Any member found to be breaking the rules can expect an appropriate action to be taken against him/her by a member of staff. These rules apply to both the main boards and the private messaging system

Spamming

'Spam' is not permissible on the forums, with the sole exception of posts made in Spamsville. Spam includes one word posts not in answer to a previous question, posts not relating to the original thread, back-and-forth conversation, etc.

Trolling

'Trolling' is the practice of posting inflammatory messages in an attempt to disrupt discussion or to upset its participants. It is not allowed on Neofreaks. If you become upset by a message, please do not perpetuate the trolling by posting a distressed reply; either simply do not continue discussion, or if you feel the user is creating a hostile environment for discussion, please report the post to a member of staff using the 'Report Post' button - , which is found to the left of the original post along with the user's information. Before reporting a member, please ensure that he/she was not simply in a bad mood whilst posting by checking their post history.

Advertising

Advertising websites on Neofreaks is not allowable. This also includes threads, posts, private messages and the forum emailing system. You may have a discreet link to a personal website in a signature, but it should not be within the same field as Neofreaks.

Inappropriate Discussion

The promotion of illegal activities such as software or music piracy, hacking, cracking, the distribution of viruses and such, is inappropriate on Neofreaks. The posting of pornographic or obscene images is also forbidden.

Scamming

Scamming on online games should not be discussed on or initiated through Neofreaks. Please be careful with whom you trade; check out any previous trades they have made and if you feel it necessary, ask to talk to anyone else with whom they have completed a successful transaction. You would be well-advised to only trade with members who have a relatively high post count or status. That said, Neofreaks takes no responsibility for its members actions and anything lost to a scammer will probably be lost for good.

Chat Speak

Please retain a high quality of spelling and grammar in your posts. If necessary, use a spell checker to ensure that your thoughts are intelligible before they are posted.

Multiple accounts

Accounts may not be created after being banned, warned, given a negative reputation, etc. You may only create one Neofreaks account. Please note that the staff recognise that the same internet connection may be used for two accounts, used by members of the family or by friends. Please ensure that the staff are aware of this.

Dissemination of Programs

Programs found on Neofreaks may not be disseminated (distributed) to anyone without the status required for its download, without prior permission from the author of the program. You may only disseminate programs on Neofreaks if you are the author and the program(s) do not contain any advertisements for other websites.

'Goodbye' Threads

'Goodbye' threads are not permitted, as they often caused inflamed discussion. If you feel you are spending 'too much time' on Neofreaks, please either simply exercise some restraint or privately ask a member of staff to ban you, giving reasons. Please note that requesting a ban will result in your demotion on return to Neofreaks if you are a Level II member.

Gravedigging

Threads which have not been posted in for one week and are off the first page of threads (using Neofreaks' default settings: 20 threads per page), may not be resurrected. It is preferable that you start a new thread if you wish to ask a question which has already been asked. To avoid confusion, you may also want to include a link to the old thread in the new one.

Staff and Disagreements

Staff should be respected at all times. However, if you do feel they have been unfair in their actions you should protest calmly, giving reasons why you feel they were misguided in their actions.

Disclaimer

The rules cannot cover every offence for which action may be taken against you. Please note that these have been chosen as the main points on which to inform you. Please use common sense when posting to ensure that you do not break any unwritten rules. If you feel it very important, you may contact a staff member via private message, or you may wish to ask for help in the 'Newbie Corner,' if the topic on which you want help is non-specific.

Neofreaks staff retain the right to deny access to any user at any time.
