    Good Tutorial Dan

It is really basic though, but it still gets the message across, maybe make an advanced logo making tutorial aswell? Advanced meaning multiple designs and vectors, made into one piece.

+rep because I think it is a good tutorial and will get people into logo making

@Dino: Yeah, I know. sane and Chris wanted Illustrator tutorials, so I decided to start off with the basics before I actually got into anything complex.

I know this was posted two years ago but it's still on the front page so bump. I have a few questions.

So size doesn't matter? Because every now and then, you'd show us logos that are like, a thousand pixels wide. Yes, if you're practicing making logos, size doesn't matter but what if you want to send your logo to a business?

Also, what format do you send your logos as?

Is it possible to "draw" a logo and send it in as a JPG or PNG? Or do you HAVE to make it a vector?

Good tut, but I wish it was a little more elaborate. I know you don't have a whole lot of time, juggling between school and Team Fortress 2 and all, but I look forward to your answers!

Vector is usually the best bet since they are the easiest to resize without quality loss.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

That's true, but starting with bigger canvasses and sizing down is better than starting with a smaller canvas and sizing up.

I don't think that really matters with vectors though, right? Sizing up or sizing down is one and the same thing. You could make something on a 5x5 pixel Illustrator canvas and resize it to fit a billboard without losing quality. And vice versa.
